Here we note that not only USB connection, but also other interfaces can be implemented through the hardware connector of this type. In particular, the Thunderbolt v3 and v4 standard works through the USB-C socket — and most often, Alternate Mode support means the ability to connect Thunderbolt accessories to USB-C 3.2 gen1 or USB-C 3.2 gen2. However, the matter is not limited to this, other formats of operation can be implemented in such connectors — in particular, DisplayPort or HDMI video interfaces. So it's ok to clarify the specific features of Alternate Mode separately before buying.
