Firstly, they are ordinary 2.0 stereo speakers, without a subwoofer — when listening to music, the lower frequencies are relevant, but still not as important as in games and movies. Secondly, most of these speakers have a division into several bands for better and more reliable sound (see "Number of bands"); this partly compensates for the lack of a subwoofer.
